how come i can’t watch a dvd using windows Media Player?

im running windows vista and when i try to play my dvd (flight of the conchords) an error window comes up saying that theres a problem with digital copy protection between my dvd drive, decoder, and video card.

Its looking for a codec to decode the DVD.
